Welcome to the Sons of Liberty webpage.  I decided after the debacle of the last general election in 2012 to put up this webpage in order to have a voice.  Like many of you I have felt completely helpless against what unfortunately has happened - the second term election of Barack Hussein Obama, and what I believe to be the consequences of this election

The purpose of this webpage is myriad.  One of the most important reasons is for me to be able to write about what is going on in our country and to speak with likeminded Americans who want to be heard and also to know the comfort that there are people out there who think similar to you.  My first article for this page is "Thoughts on the Presidential Election of 2012."  I wrote this piece in November 2012 right after the election and as you will read, I have serious concerns about our future.  In the comings days, I'll write on political issues as well as morality issues, since they are truly linked.

President George Washingon said in his 1796 Farewell address:  "Of all the dispositions and habits, which lead to political prosperity, Religion and Morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of Men and Citizens. The mere Politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connexions with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked, Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths, which are the instruments of investigation in Courts of Justice? And let us with caution indulge the supposition, that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect, that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle. It is substantially true, that virtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government. The rule, indeed, extends with more or less force to every species of free government. Who, that is a sincere friend to it, can look with indifference upon attempts to shake the foundation of the fabric?"

So here, forthwith, is my commentary in the blog to the right.  Let me know what you think.

"Out of the Darkness"

“Out of the Darkness”

Don’t know about you, but since the presidential election I have been looking, searching, no – longing, for someone, anyone, who can speak plainly but intelligently about Republican ideas.  A person who can articulate the politics I believe in, and make it understandable.

Recently read a short but really interesting editorial about Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney’s choice for V.P.  During the election campaign we did not hear enough from Mr. Ryan, he was generally consigned to explaining numbers, rather than ideals.  Mr. Ryan’s acceptance speech as Mr. Romney’s V.P. was on the deck of an American air craft carrier.  The one thing I remember most about that speech was something like this, and I paraphrase most generously; …as Americans we know that our rights are not from the government, but from God.  That is how our government was founded; our forefathers knew that man is given his rights and freedom by the Almighty, not by another man.

All I can say to that is, Amen.  It really struck me that here was a man, Paul Ryan, who understood what makes America the exceptional country we are.

The short editorial spoke of two recent speeches; one at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, and one at Benedictine College in Kansas.  I have not read these two speeches, I will read them.  According to the editorial, Mr. Ryan made his case for the GOP agenda of free markets, limited government, and a public square thick with churches and charities.

Mr. Ryan contrasted the GOP agenda with the following:  “Barney Frank once said government is the name for the things we do together.  But that’s just one name.  There are lots of them:  the church meeting, the neighborhood watch, the food bank, the small business, the health clinic, the homeless shelter.  We like to call these things ‘mediating institutions.’  But in the end, they’re just people – people working together.”

My only objection to Mr. Ryan’s statement is that government is one of the names we do together.  We don’t do anything in the name of government together, we simply forge a consensus and compromise.  I suppose you could call that togetherness, I don’t.  But, when Mr. Ryan spoke to Benedictine College he said the following:  “Free enterprise doesn’t reward greed,” it rewards value – because competition checks greed.  And there’s no greater opportunity for greed than government cronyism.  Greed knows how to exploit the books of regulations and the whims of bureaucrats.  It knows how to navigate the halls of power.  So if we’re concerned about greed, we shouldn’t give it more opportunities to grow.”  And, again, I say most certainly, Amen.

Paul Ryan is now on my list as someone to be watching as a possible spokesman for me.  There are a few others, unfortunately, the list isn’t very long.

I know there is a patriot among us; one who is not afraid to speak American ideals, who will lead us out of this dark time in our history.  A patriot who knows America was established as a faith-based, God-centered Judeo-Christian nation.

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION PRESIDENT, BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA

by Gerri Gibney on 05/07/13

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION PRESIDENT, BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA

Think about it!  America has elected its first Affirmative Action President.

Affirmative Action has been around for over fifty years.  I don’t believe Barack Hussein Obama was elected twice as a result of this Executive Order.  I do believe, however, that the mindsets by many progressives in America, especially the press, were guided by this Order

In 1961 President Kennedy mandated that government contractors "take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed, and employees are treated during employment, without regard to their race, creed, color, or national origin."  This Order intended good consequences, however, as the years went on this Order and its various interpretations and additions became an instrument of reverse discrimination and now the government office who oversees this Order and its additions also includes “diversity.”

What prompted me to write this article?  A few things; Benghazi being in the news again, Barack Hussein Obama visiting Mexico last week and blaming Mexican violence and killings on America and American guns, and now this week his first commencement speech of the season.

When Barack Hussein Obama first came on the scene as a contender in the Democratic presidential primary, the so-called press never looked into his background, or if they did, never published his various Communist ties, and his association with known unrepentant terrorists.  If he had undergone a security background check, he most likely would not have been allowed to enter the White House.  We, the American people, are not allowed to see his grades.  Remind you of Affirmative Action in the workplace?  How many people have been given places in higher educational institutions because a quota is necessary?  Doesn’t matter that a student will need tutoring to read, no, we need the Affirmative Action numbers.  The press looked the other way; it did not matter if Barack Hussein Obama had no experience in anything but “community organizing.”  He went to Harvard, was editor of the “Harvard Law Review,” and never published an article for the publication, didn’t matter.  When he did write anything, it was filled with Black Liberation ideology and an indictment of America and all its systems and that didn’t matter.

Our foreign policy is in a shambles.  Benghazi will be in the news this week, let’s see how the press spins it this time.  One after another lie and cover-up by the government, doesn’t matter.

Barack Hussein Obama goes to Mexico and trashes his own country!  We are the bad guys; we made all those poor Mexicans kill for drug money.  Our guns are the source of all evil!  The real ludicrous joke about his speech is the “Fast and Furious” fiasco. This program under Attorney General Holder gave illegal guns to the Mexican cartel and these guns wound up killing hundreds of Mexicans including many teenagers.  No matter, Holder is still Attorney General when he should be in jail.

Now he goes to Columbus, Ohio, and tells the graduates of Ohio State to “do better.”  Nothing wrong with this, we should all want to do better all the time.  However, he goes on to say; “This is a joyous occasion, so let me put it charitably; I think it’s fair to say our democracy isn’t working as well as we know it can.”  Really?   I thought Barrack Hussein Obama was President of the United States.  What is he really saying?  Until all of you work for the government and I am the grand leader, our democracy isn’t working?

He also decried the ill-functioning government and the relentless cynicism about our nation’s future.  Oh, and he also mentioned that our government works for the benefit of society’s elite.  Well, he should know about that; he’s played more golf, had more vacations, and thrown more parties at the White House all on our dime than any other president.  So, maybe he’s right on that one.

As I see it, he’s the cynical one, he’s the taker, not the giver, he doesn’t care about the American people, case in point, he went to bed the night of the Benghazi murders, he will tax the American people until there will be no middle class left, especially with Obamacare and its death panels, and with all of this and more, the progressive American press will not say a word.  They will defend, spin, and lie to protect a fellow traveler.

"THE BUCK STOPS HERE! - The Boston Bombings"

by Gerri Gibney on 04/16/13

How very sad about the bombings in Boston.  All we can do is pray and ask God for His love and care for all the people in that lovely city and to be with the families who have lost loved ones.

Like everyone else I’ve been listening to the various news reports and right now everything is speculation as to what happened.  Was it a terrorist?  Nothing has been reported as definitive, but we do hear all the various experts on this type of bombing.  I was listening to a local talk show early this morning and I was astounded and not a little angry as to what I heard from some of the callers.  One said; "...what can we do?  This type of thing is going to happen; there is nothing we can do about it."  Another even went so far as to say it was the “new normal.”  Adding that she hated those words “new normal” but they were unfortunately true.  She was assuming that it was a terrorist attack and this is what we had to look forward to as we went forward.  The talk show host agreed with her!

After “9/11” our country has had many threats and plots from terrorist groups and individual crazy terrorist people that we have not heard about and probably will never know about.  Many we do know about; the van filled with explosives right in Times Square which was thwarted.  After “9/11” President George W. Bush did his very best to keep our country safe.  His foreign policy let the rest of the world know we were not going to sit back and let our people be terrorized.  The very idea of “9/11” being the “new normal” after those attacks would have been repugnant to all Americans.  The bombings in Boston should be thought of the same; an ungodly, dastardly, cowardly act that deserves swift and complete punishment.  Not an act that is thought of as what we need to get used to as the “new normal.”  Is this what many Americans want to happen?  That we lie down, roll over, and live in fear?

What has happened to our fellow citizens to change their hearts and minds about terrorism? If in fact, it is terrorism.  We must remember the Boston bombings happened under the watch of President Barack Hussein Obama, the Commander and Chief of our nation.  The same man who went to sleep the night four of our countrymen were murdered in Benghazi.  Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in her testimony about Benghazi got angry that anyone would question her ability or her motivation as to how Benghazi was handled by saying; “What does it matter?”

If it is terrorism, of any type, we must look at why these bombings took place now.  Is it possible that terrorists have looked at the measure of the man we call our Commander in Chief and found him without resolve or a foreign policy?  Look at what has happened under his watch; much of the Middle East is under the rule of Islamist extremists, we have turned away from our allies in Poland and the Czech Republic.   In our own country we won’t call a terrorist what he is, an enemy combatant, instead we call it “work place violence.”   Fort Hood should never have happened.  His superiors knew he was making open threats, that he was an Islamist extremist.  His superiors did not want to label him as an Islamist extremist.  As a result of this “work place violence” the people who were murdered cannot receive a Purple Heart and the benefits due their families.

Next, we will hear that the sequester is at fault for this tragedy.  Congressman Peter King, a member of the Homeland Security committee, has already gone on record that Homeland Security has been affected.  Now we will be told by the media outlets it is the Republican’s fault that Homeland Security is not adequately funded because of the Republican’s sequester.  When in reality, it is President Barack Hussein Obama that came up with the idea of the sequester and endorsed it.  The AP and the rest of the so-called reporters will make it the Republicans fault.

What happened to President Harry Truman’s adage; “THE BUCK STOPS HERE!”

Oh, I am sorry, President Barack Hussein Obama gets a pass.  The last President that this axiom applied to was President George W. Bush, so it must be his fault.

"GOVERNMENT KNOWS BEST!"

by Gerri Gibney on 03/26/13

The discussion over regulating people’s behavior by the government has become tiresome, annoying, and tedious to me.  I think I will start using an acronym for it; T (tiresome) A (annoying), T (tedious) or “TAT,” since none of it makes very much sense, and the answer to the argument is really very simple.  In all of the circumstances where the government is telling you how to behave, the answer is the government should not be in your business in the first place.

Take Bloomberg’s big cup controversy; he has dictated that you will not be able to purchase a certain size cup of soda.  It’s O.K. if you buy two smaller ones, just not the giant size.  Of course, as usual, the so-called law he has instituted has many unintended consequences,  For instance;  if you purchase a pizza and want a large bottle of soda added to the order, sorry, you can’t do that.  You must buy smaller bottles or cans, which will cost you more.  But that’s O.K. with the mayor; he’s saving you from yourself by restricting the size of the bottle.  Fortunately, for now at least, a judge with some sense has stopped this nonsense.  However, Bloomberg will appeal the ruling.  Right now he is looking for a left-wing judge to make his appeal.

When someone argues that the government should be telling you how to live your life – beware!  Their argument is that you are not capable of looking after yourself, that your decisions are affecting all of the society when you become sick or fat, or both.  My questions to them are; where do you stop butting into my life, who makes the decision as to how much I should have or not have when it comes to soda or anything for that matter, and where is it written in our Constitution that the government has the authority to determine what should be in my life in the first place.

Their counterpoint is that the cost of health care is going through the roof because of people overeating.  My question to them is; why haven’t they come up with a better system of health care than Obamacare?  Is America supposed to be in the business of healthcare in the first place?  If the Congress does not defund Obamacare we are all in trouble because one of the consequences will be the government’s ability to make even more decisions for us as to what you eat, where you eat, how much you eat, and on and on.

The vicious cycle of government becoming involved in every aspect of American life under the guise of “government knows best” is frightening, and for some reason many Americans are either oblivious or don’t care.  Maybe when they take away their Big Mac and order of large fries they will wake up!

But, I forgot, there will be exemptions to the Big Mac Law.  I wonder what groups won’t have to obey?

PERSONALITY NOT A PATRIOT!

by Gerri Gibney on 03/04/13

I watched a small segment of Mitt Romney’s interview last night, and it struck me that half the nation has succumbed to a personality not a patriot!  O.K., Romney lost, but when you watch him in the public arena you realize it is we who have lost.  When asked why he lost, Governor Romney said it was because he did not appeal to the minority population.  I don’t agree with that; he lost because some Republicans did not vote (it is estimated that the number is something like three million) that’s the reason.

Unlike the sitting President, the Governor in this interview did not blame others.  It was striking the differences in these two men.  Governor Romney said unequivocally that if he was President “the cliff” would not have happened.  He would not be blaming the Democrats, calling them names.  He would be working with them to forge what was best for the country. What does this so-called President do?  Meets at the last hour with the Republican leadership for seven minutes, yes that is correct, seven minutes, and then says I’ve tried to reach out to them!  This is not a Patriot, pledged to get the very best for America, this is a traitor to America.  Yes, I said it, a traitor.  Barack Hussein Obama is not the president of half the population; he is supposed to be president of all the people.  Instead, he calls the rest of us names and spouts drivel about the consequences of not doing what he wants.  He obviously does not want more jobs, less debt, better communication.  We have lived under his “rule” for four years and we have only gotten more debt, less jobs, and no communication.  People are evaluated by their actions not their words. His ACTIONS are not of a PATRIOT, they are actions of an autocrat; taught by Sol Alinsky, rooted in Black Liberation Theology, and a non-distinguished career as a community organizer.

Here’s something to remember – this is the opening page, the dedication in Sol Alinsky’s book “Rules for Radicals.”  It reads; “Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history... the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer.Gerri Gibney - March 4, 2013
