Welcome to the Sons of Liberty webpage.  I decided after the debacle of the last general election in 2012 to put up this webpage in order to have a voice.  Like many of you I have felt completely helpless against what unfortunately has happened - the second term election of Barack Hussein Obama, and what I believe to be the consequences of this election

The purpose of this webpage is myriad.  One of the most important reasons is for me to be able to write about what is going on in our country and to speak with likeminded Americans who want to be heard and also to know the comfort that there are people out there who think similar to you.  My first article for this page is "Thoughts on the Presidential Election of 2012."  I wrote this piece in November 2012 right after the election and as you will read, I have serious concerns about our future.  In the comings days, I'll write on political issues as well as morality issues, since they are truly linked.

President George Washingon said in his 1796 Farewell address:  "Of all the dispositions and habits, which lead to political prosperity, Religion and Morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of Men and Citizens. The mere Politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connexions with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked, Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths, which are the instruments of investigation in Courts of Justice? And let us with caution indulge the supposition, that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect, that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle. It is substantially true, that virtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government. The rule, indeed, extends with more or less force to every species of free government. Who, that is a sincere friend to it, can look with indifference upon attempts to shake the foundation of the fabric?"

So here, forthwith, is my commentary in the blog to the right.  Let me know what you think.

Thoughts on the Presidential Election of 2012

by Gerri Gibney on 01/21/13

The national election is over and we are all asking “what happened?”  We can blame everyone and everything, but it will still come to the same conclusion; we lost.  We didn’t lose a little, we lost a lot.  I’m not telling you something you don’t know.  The question still remains, why?

I’ve got a theory and I’m writing it down in order to try and make some sense of my great confusion as to “why?”  Here it is; God is telling us something.  Just like in the Hebrew Testament when something happened to His people it was a message to them.  They either woke up, or they didn’t, and therefore suffered the consequences, sometimes good, sometimes bad.

If you were like me in the last month, I prayed for God to “save America.”  That was my prayer, and He answered.  He gave me an answer I don’t like, and I mean I really don’t like it.  If we, as God’s people, heed his answer, we need to look and see why he answered in such a way.  God has given us free will and our corporate, national free will has elected Obama again.  Not you and me, but 50% of the population.  Why?

I believe Mitt Romney ran a decent campaign and see no reason to second guess what he did or didn’t do.  From a political standpoint I have my ideas as to why we failed, especially the fact that the Tea Party sat out this time because of their perceived slight of Sarah Palin.  They could be right, but it is inconceivable to me that something as important as the very fate of the nation would be taken so lightly as to disenfranchise yourself because you were annoyed that Sarah was not made much of in the campaign.

But, is that the real reason God has forsaken us?  God doesn’t care about our politics, He does, however, care about each of us and of our nation created “as one nation under God.”  As Paul Ryan explained at the beginning of the campaign; government doesn’t give us our rights, God does.  We all know Paul is right.  The problem is that half of the population doesn’t know it.

Look at your own faith group.  We are afraid to upset someone if we say the word God, or Jesus in a public prayer.  Instead, we have let a small fringe group of people drive us from the public square.  When there is time of turmoil and trouble, when there is a terrible disaster, when we have been attacked, who does the “government” turn to?  Why, God, of course, but don’t bring him into our lives otherwise.  Oh no, that wouldn’t be nice, we might offend someone!

Look at the public square.  We are all sinners, but at one time, not so long ago, we at least had standards.  In the Christian and Jewish faith groups we have the Ten Commandments to let us know why we are sinners.  Now in the public square we are not allowed to display God’s Law, and equally as bad, we don’t teach them, we don’t preach them, and we really don’t believe them.  How else could we interpret our total disregard for God’s law?  God wrote those Laws for a reason.  He wants us to be happy, productive people, and the best way to do that is follow His Law. I know we all break those Laws in one way or another either by thought, word, or deed.  We know that, but do we really?  Think about the Law.  We have made them adjuncts to our lives, not the way to live our lives.

The Democrat Party booed and shouted down God even being mentioned in their latest Party platform, it was only after the chairman of the DNC by fiat said; “the ayes have it” that it was put into their platform.  Almost all of the delegates present shouted down God.  Why should He be with any of us?  God is evidently not welcome in their Democratic Party and by extension not in their lives, and what about the rest of us?  Why didn’t every person of faith say, we stand up for God, not boo him down.  Instead, we sit silent, and some of us even voted for the Democratic candidate.

In my town, half of the registered voters pulled the lever for Obama.  Why?  I believe many of these people simply don’t know what his policies are, and what he plans for America.  If they knew, how could they vote for him?  Do half of the people in this town want their freedoms taken away?  Do they want the government to tell them what health care system they must belong to?  Do they want someone else to tell them how to live their lives?  Do they want government in every aspect of their personal life?

Do they want government to tell them how to raise their children?  Obama is planning to sign a treaty on behalf of the United States with the United Nations concerning the rights of children.  Among other things, this would mean that a parent could not “force” or “insist” that their child be required to take religious instruction in the faith group the parent wishes them to attend.  Can it be that 50% of the population doesn’t care that their child doesn’t have to listen and obey them?  This is in direct contradiction to God’s Law, and also the United States Constitution.

There are more UN treaties Obama will be a party to, including the right to own arms.  In the meantime, I am still asking what happened, and I am beginning to believe that God is withdrawing His favor of the United States of America.  We need to do something, and I am thinking and praying as to what the next step is to change (I despise this word, and if I could coin a replacement, I would) the direction of our country.

Let’s all pray that “God saves America,” He alone is our refuge.  Let me know your thoughts and ideas.  I’ll be writing again, still searching for the answers, and with the help of the Almighty coming up with answers.

Gerri. I am in total agreement with you. The recent election is a perfect example of " be careful what you wish for , you might get it". The American worker's voted for this man & his corrupt cronies and now they are seeing the first effects of this in their paychecks. That is only the start of a very slippery slope. America WAKE UP!
