Welcome to the Sons of Liberty webpage.  I decided after the debacle of the last general election in 2012 to put up this webpage in order to have a voice.  Like many of you I have felt completely helpless against what unfortunately has happened - the second term election of Barack Hussein Obama, and what I believe to be the consequences of this election

The purpose of this webpage is myriad.  One of the most important reasons is for me to be able to write about what is going on in our country and to speak with likeminded Americans who want to be heard and also to know the comfort that there are people out there who think similar to you.  My first article for this page is "Thoughts on the Presidential Election of 2012."  I wrote this piece in November 2012 right after the election and as you will read, I have serious concerns about our future.  In the comings days, I'll write on political issues as well as morality issues, since they are truly linked.

President George Washingon said in his 1796 Farewell address:  "Of all the dispositions and habits, which lead to political prosperity, Religion and Morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of Men and Citizens. The mere Politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connexions with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked, Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths, which are the instruments of investigation in Courts of Justice? And let us with caution indulge the supposition, that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect, that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle. It is substantially true, that virtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government. The rule, indeed, extends with more or less force to every species of free government. Who, that is a sincere friend to it, can look with indifference upon attempts to shake the foundation of the fabric?"

So here, forthwith, is my commentary in the blog to the right.  Let me know what you think.

THANK YOU MR. TRUMP!

by Gerri Gibney on 04/10/16

My eyes have been opened since Donald Trump has thrown his hat into the ring of politics.  First let me say, I am an unabashed lover of Donald Trump with all his warts and craziness.  I, like so many others, have discovered there is an underlying truth to much of what he says.  We instinctively know there is something very wrong with our government, and he has put his finger on it, even if he is not articulating it as well as I might want him to do.  But, Mr. Trump has a plan, and I am confident the plan will work to bring him into the White House.

Power and money have driven our politics for a very long time.  I am no Pollyanna, I don’t believe this just started, I am well aware that it has always been, and always will be.  I also believe there are still some Patriots.  However, the level of corruption has grown to a point where a confirmed Socialist can become a part of the national discussion and is giving the Democrat front runner a good run for her money.  We have an avowed Marxist, who loathes America, as President for the last seven plus years.  Now, many Americans are so disgusted they want a longtime backbench Independent, who is a consummate politician, who has no achievements to his name, who rails against capitalism as their next President?  And, on the Republican side, two “outsiders” have risen to the top of the heap.  How can this be?  Very simple; Donald Trump has brought to the fore what is wrong with America, and how he is going to begin to mend her.  The politicians are scared to death.  Donald Trump knows where the money changers’ tables are and he is going to overturn them.  They are afraid.  By that I am speaking of both political parties and all the politicians who comprise them.

The will of the people is no longer the basis of our Republic, money is.

All Americans, for so long have been given the choice of one politician versus another politician.  Election after election we have been given what the “Establishment” wants to give us and we have accepted their choice.  We no longer think of a politician as a person who serves the people, the word “politician” is now a job description.

For your amusement, here are the dictionary definitions:

1.  Somebody active in politics (somebody who actively or professionally engages in politics)

2.  Government member (a member of a branch of government)

3.  Somebody seeking personal power (U.S. – somebody whose main political motive is self-advancement and whose methods are often unscrupulous)

4.  Schemer (somebody who manipulates relationships, especially in a workplace)

We are now content with a professional politician rather than a citizen politician.  We’ve allowed it, and for the first time in many years we have a choice between a patriot and a politician; a citizen versus a politician and all hell has broken loose.

The other so-called “outsider” in this race is Ted Cruz.  For all his talk about “Liberty and Freedom,” Senator Cruz is controlled by big money and their interests, and is no outsider.  Take a look at some of his donors:  https://www.yahoo.com/news/the-mystery-moneymen-behind-ted-cruzs-super-pacs-116037797361.html.  Or take a look at the Goldman Sachs loan he conveniently forgot to list on his Senate campaign filings; http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/ted-cruz-didn-disclose-loan-goldman-sachs-report-article-1.2496526.  And, there is still no answer about the $500,000 transferred from Mr. Cruz’ PAC “Keep the Promise” to Carly Fiorinia’s PAC.  Why would one campaign give any money to another campaign?  I believe it is hush money.  He has shown in this campaign how easy it is for him to be swayed on a host of issues.  He might be a Constitutionalist, but only when it works for him.   Take when he accused Mr. Trump of being the inciter in the Chicago disturbances; Senator Cruz had no problem depriving Mr. Trump of his right to free speech.

A word of caution to Mr. Trump; government is not the answer to all of our social problems.  Less government, less taxes, and no social engineering are the answers.  Mr. Trump is on the right track when he speaks about giving the power back to the states in a variety of circumstances.  He should keep on that track.  As the leader of the REVOLUTION he should be speaking of the lofty ideals and ideas of our founders, and that he is not a career politician but is the Patriot to “Make America Great Again.”  We are great, we’ve just gotten off the track, and he needs to remind us of that.

Donald Trump calls what he has started a “movement,” I think it is the beginning of a REVOLUTION.  We are witnessing a battle for the very soul and ideal of America and it is starting with Patriot Donald Trump, for whether he knows it or not, he is awakening the American people to look at what has happened and what has gone wrong with the two political parties in America.  They no longer desire what is best for America, but what is best for them.

Donald Trump will make America great again!
